Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. She began her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her career working with famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as it becomes a Hulu Original. In March of 2023 Ashford returns to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton, will direct the musical. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Also, she has performed on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original character as Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
