Richard B. Cheney has been a public servant for many years and also is a successful businessman. Cheney is currently the Vice-President of the United States. Cheney was a familiar name in Washington's political scene. George W. Bush would be his 4th U.S. President. Bush selected Cheney as his vice presidential running mate in July 2000 citing his insight judgment and experience. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff for presidents. He worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served the country in a variety of roles. Republicans and Democrats alike respect Cheney for his integrity. Cheney declares that he's a discreet but honest advisor to Bush in his administration. In accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod Cheney declared that he's looking forward to working with one who can work to achieve his goals by working across the political aisle and working alongside political adversaries in good faith and common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30, 1941) was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been wed with Richard Herbert Cheney for over thirty years. When he was 13 years old, Bruce accompanied his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in Wyoming, the State of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's the district for soil conservation.
